Out like a lamb

lambPretty sweet weather we’re having these days.  I was in shorts all day and sans shirt for a couple of hours.  I had to get the irrigation set up; the flower bed, the strawberries, the sprouting broccoli (which looks great) and the half dozen kale plants we have are all in surprisingly dry soil already.

New plants on the stand this week include radicchio, parsley, lunaria (money plant) and chrysanthemums. We also have our second batch of rainbow chard out (forgot to mention it last time). And, probably next week, we will have Albion strawberry starts in 6-packs. These plants produce the large, impossibly sweet fruit that we had on our farm stand last summer.  Broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are also possibilities for next week.

Tomorrow is going to be a very good Friday.  I will have a very limited quantity of fresh-baked rye bread, just like the good old days.  Get it while it’s warm (starting around 9 am).
